Skin treatment procedures can encompass a wide range of treatments designed to address various skin concerns, from acne and wrinkles to hyperpigmentation and skin texture issues. The specific procedure or combination of procedures you may need depends on your skin type, concerns, and goals. Here are some common skin treatment procedures:

Intralesional Injections

Skin diseases have advantage of being easily seen and can be easily treated with application of ointments, and intralesional injections. Intralesional injections are commonly used in lichen simplex chronicus, alopecia areata, hypertrophic lichen planus. Intralesional delivery of medication is also done with help of ionotophoresis.

Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy is microscopy of skin with or without polarized light. We are using dermoscope that can provide 100-nearly one hundred fifty times magnification with polarized light that is very useful in melasma, hair loss, skin growth, management of smaller lesions 1-5 mm, and screening for melanoma and collagen vascular disorders.

Skin Biopsy

Skin biopsy is carried out under local anesthesia and 3-5 mm piece of skin is removed with disposable punch. Most of time , no stitches are needed except for scalp , face etc. Skin biopsy heals in 7-10 days with minimal or no scarring. Skin biopsy helps in identify skin diseases, for example skin TB, leprosy, vasculitis, lupus erythematosus, lichen planus, psoriasis, nodular lesions of skin and skin tumors. It is frequently used to diagnose and document skin changes in diseases needing long term management.

Phototherapy

UVA and UVB therapy is useful in vitiligo, psoriasis and a variety of skin disorders.
Ultraviolet light is safe for Indian skin types and prolonged treatment is frequently needed.
Phototherapy can also be done with hand held devices for convenience and avoid hospital visits.

Patch and photopatch test

Patch test is overnight application of allergens or suspected allergens on skin under occlusive tape. Results are read after 48 hours and it is useful for contact dermatitis to cosmetics, earrings, parthenium or other plants. Photopatch tests require additional exposure to UV light at 24 hours and results are 24-48 hours later.

Treatment of Moles and skin tags

Scarless removal of skin tags and moles is carried out under local anesthesia using Resurfacing Lasers and Redio Frequency Ablation treatment. Moles are shaved off with Redio Frequency Ablation followed by punch grafting if needed. Multiple skin tags and moles can be treated in one session.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is application of cold for treatment of skin disorders. It is used for treatment of xanthelasma, skin tags and warts. It especially used in HIV positive patients for treatment of genital warts. Liquid nitrogen and nitrous oxide gun is used for cryotherapy.

Chemical peels

We carry out chemical peels for acne scars, pigmentation, melasma with glycolic acid, lactic acid and salicylic acid. Peels also help in treatment of acne and rejuvenation of skin.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofreqeuency ablation is a versatile dermatosurgical procedure used for surgical management of skin lesions by using various forms of alternating current at an ultra high frequency. The major modalities in radiofrequency are electrosection, electrocoagulation, electrodessication and fulguration. The use of radiofrequency ablation in dermatosurgical practice has gained importance in recent years as it can be used to treat most of the skin lesions with ease in less time with clean surgical field due to adequate hemostasis and with minimal side effects and complications. It is being used for treatment of skin tags, warts, xanthelasma, excision of small growths at our clinic. Low dose Radio Frequency is also used in skin rejuvenation, skin tightening and wrinkles.

Lasers

We are treating freckles, melasma, nevus of OTA and tattoos with Pigment laser and Resurfacing Laser for acne scarring and rejuvenation of face. Dr Sharma also has vast experience in treating with resurfacting, pigment and tattoos lasers.

Procedures
